Leicester Trades Union Council Organise a memorial day for all workers killed at work in the East Midlands.

It begins by the reading out the list of those killed at work in the East Midlands followed by a minute’s silence.

There will be a number of speakers arranged beginning with the Lord Mayor of Leicester and followed by local trade unionists.

There is also a display floral tributes contributed by local trades unionists branches and other organisations and individuals. Then finished with some music provided by Red Leicester Choir.

The event should take approximately 45 minutes.

Every year more people are killed at work than in wars. Most don’t die of mystery ailments, or in tragic “accidents”. They die because an employer decided their safety just wasn’t that important a priority. International Workers Memorial Day, on 28 April, commemorates those workers.

Members of the Socialist Labour Party will be present. Contact 07790-031418 for details or generalsecretary@socialistlabourparty.org.uk
